How does Point*Wizard compare to competing software? The most comparable decision-support software to Point*Wizard is Expert Choice, currently the most popular software of its kind in the world. Expert Choice is based on the 'Analytic Hierarchic Process' (AHP). Users are required to answer questions of the sort: "How many more times important to you is 'Criterion a' relative to 'Criterion b'?" (e.g. "When short-listing job applicants, how many more times important to you is 'Education' than 'Experience'?") In contrast, as explained above, Point*Wizard, based on the PAPRIKA (Potentially All Pairwise RanKings of Alternatives) method, asks: "Which of these two alternatives (e.g. two job applicants) do you prefer?" Clearly, Point*Wizard's question is more natural than Expert Choice's. Picking one thing from two possibilities (alternatives) is the easiest choice in the world! This means that decision-makers can have greater confidence in their answers to Point*Wizard, and so their answers have greater validity and reliability and fewer biases. Therefore decision-makers can trust the accuracy of the points systems or the ranking of alternatives or individuals produced by Point Wizard2. Furthermore, because the answers to Point*Wizard's questions are recorded in a report, decision-makers can defend how the points or the ranking of alternatives or individuals were derived. When shared with others, this information lends focus to discussions amongst decision-makers. Should priorities change, individual decisions in Point*Wizard can be revised, resulting in new points or rankings. This minimises the cost of fine-tuning a points system or ranking and earns the confidence of those it affects. |
